There's a yearly event that's organizced so people can swim across Sun Moon Lake. It sounds quite tiring. A cruise on a boat would be a good compromise I think. Poseidon!

Ubiquitous blue slippers

Blue slippers are generally not hip or trendy in Taiwan, but they do serve a purpose. Need to pop down to the 7-Eleven for a cold beverage? How about a quick jaunt to the night market to pick up dinner after work? Blue slippers are first and foremost convenient, but they also offer a decent level of comfort. Not bad footwear for around a dollar. >>> more

Nobel prize winner comes to Taiwan

The last big celebrity to come to Taiwan was Kobe Bryant.

This news didn't make it to the headlines probably because he can't dunk, but Leland Hartwell deserves streed cred as well. He won a Nobel prize in 2001 for his work on cell research. >>> more

Ping Lin at Sunrise

I've been to Ping Lin a few times to go camping with some friends. Well not really camping like in a tent under the stars, but there's a cabin that we rent out there. We usually cook some food on an open fire, listen to music, play games and enjoy the peaceful side of Taiwan. It's important to get out of the city from time to time. >>> more
