First-tier motherboard maker Gigabyte Technology has announced December 2009 revenues of NT$3.55 billion (US$111.41 million), up 2.58% on month and 60.96% on year. Full-year revenues reached NT$46.3 billion, up slightly by 2.24% on year.

Gigabyte has led motherboard makers in launching 11 USB 3.0-enabled motherboards and plans to launch 13 more models shortly.

To counter Gigabyte's move, Asustek Computer has also recently launched 19 USB 3.0-capable motherboards supporting Intel's LGA 1366/1156-based and AMD AM3-based CPUs.

Gigabyte shipped about 19 million motherboards in 2009 with 15 million being own-brand products, while Asustek shipped about 21 million units.
